Fantasy Town
Become the best town lord you don’t want to be.
Produce an assortment of goods to keep your economy thriving and growing.
Recruit the best citizens in the land to help in making your settlement the best in the land.
Fantasy Town is a rather new entry into the farming simulator sub-genre. You’ll be exposed to many elements of the regular community simulator or town builder, with a smidgen of RPG elements here and there.
You’ll play as a reluctant lord who inherits a town that has barely survived a troll attack. Expect a lot of ruins and displaced villagers trying to get their feet back up. What you’ll help the mayor-to-be with is to rebuild the community and make everything better for everybody. Since the main character isn’t up to snuff when it comes to anything leadership-related, you’re at the front seat in his attempts to leave everyone hanging when he gets a chance.
Game controls are similar to what many other simulators on mobile use. Tap and swipe to issue commands, plant and harvest crops, and create goods. There’s not much of a learning curve to worry about. Developing your town depends on your level, and every action in this game generates player EXP. The higher you go, the more structures and goods you can produce. There are four types of structures to build, and most of them are easy to get an idea of. Produce gets you goods-making buildings. Giving villagers roofs on their heads falls under the House category. Public Buildings are for structures that improve the quality of your citizens. The last category, decoration, is where you build things that will make your town more pleasing to the eye. You can make some buildings look uniquely yours through the building skins menu. Choose the look you want and express your preferences better.
Production is at the heart of these simulation titles, and Fantasy Town brings us these familiar systems. You sow and harvest crops, raise livestock, and process these raw materials into better kinds of goods. There are people around the continent interested in buying your goods, and you can send these products to their places through the Dragon Delivery Service. It works like the request boards of other sim titles, rewarding you with exp and currency for every successful transaction. You can improve your town’s productivity by taking advantage of researched upgrades – as long as you have enough currency to complete them.
Citizens are those who determine the speed of your town’s recovery. They come in different rarities, possess unique talents, and can help you with a myriad of tasks in the game. Recruiting Citizens can be done in a few ways. The first method is through a gacha paid with premium currency. While there’s no problem recruiting one at a time, going for five recruits at once gets you a discount. You can save a few gems this way. Another way of getting citizens to work for your town is by outright buying them in the shop. This is going to cost more gems, but you will definitely get who you need without relying on luck. Another way to get citizens is to rescue captured individuals from troll camps. It will take you a while to get better characters, but no need to worry about IAPs this way.
Summing this up, Fantasy Town is a city builder with its own twist, but it doesn’t stray too far from what you expect in a sim title. Go and give the app a try today. Fantasy Town Summary
