Idle Farmyard is a farm simulation and tycoon mobile game for Android and iOS devices.
Welcome to a simpler voxel version of a farm management game. You get a bird's eye view of Farmer Fred and his ever-expanding estate – thanks largely to your efforts. Zoom in or out of the farm to adjust to your preferred perspective. Move and view the various sections of your agri-industry by swiping in the desired direction.
You start with a chicken and gradually improve your poultry farm's earning abilities. This, and future livestock, are going to have 3 attributes you'll strike a balance with: number of animals, yield, and price per unit. Upgrades are a simple 'tap when you have met the required number of resources' affair. Much of your early game is spent on the chicken farm until you get a few tens of levels in.
This is one among a few farming sims where even the farmyard workers are subjected to upgrades. To make your workers better at their jobs, tap the worker and pay the required amount to either make them move faster, gather more resources per trip, or compile them faster.
Building upgrades are another factor here. This game follows the standard trio of produce source, processing plant, and warehouse. Whichever customers those trucks are bound to are something we are no longer concerned with. Again, it's up to you how to balance out between how much produce per package, how fast the workers can make them, and how many workers are present in that sector. The warehouse pretty much covers the number of goods that can be stored at a given time and how fast can your trucks bring them to circulation.
Constructing new buildings is a matter of opening the main menu and tapping the map button. You build one at a time and gain access to the next available structure. This is not a preferred approach since your new livestock won't make any revenue without the supporting buildings ready. New buildings don't come cheap, forcing you to maximize the profitability of an existing business before you can expand your portfolio.
A second currency called Resources is used for business-wide upgrades. These are passive modifiers that affect production speed and selling value. You gradually acquire this by unlocking achievements. These are usually a matter of reaching new thresholds in your quest to become a poultry and livestock magnate. You can significantly speed things up by securing resources via in-app purchases.
This app also makes use of ad-watching to get rewards. Watch for at least half a minute to get temporary improvements to your farms' production efficiency. You can have more than 1 boost in effect. The effects last for a few minutes until a new watching prompt shows up. Idle rewards are ideally collected every 12 hours to get the most out of your offline time. Double the amount you get by watching an ad. The game also lets you upgrade the idle rewards ceiling using Resources. Challenge your reflexes by catching crop-stealing rabbits that zoom all over the farm. They're quite loaded with currency, making going after them worth the effort.
