Fantasy Town: Farm & Friends is a farm simulation game with some idle RPG elements blended in where you’ll get to send out adventurers to mine ores and battle against the ever-menacing orcs. In this game, you play as a reluctant mayor of a town that sorely needs restoring. Develop your fantasy town by adding new houses and other buildings, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll find the job you were so reluctant to take on rewarding.

As the mayor of a town that you’re trying to restore, the goal here is to obviously grow your town by rebuilding parts of it and developing others so as to attract new people to move in.

To start though, you’ll need to make sure your people have enough food to eat. You’ll need to set up a farm, grow crops, and harvest your crops to either sell them directly to others via the Dragon Shop, the Market Island, or other means of sales to earn some gold, or you could use your harvest to produce more lucrative goods like turning wheat into bread at the bakery. Of course, this would mean that you’ll need to have the corresponding production shop built and staffed first!

Yes, you heard right! In this game, you’ll need to staff your production buildings for them to work. Although you start with the basic automation which doesn’t confer any additional perks, you’ll eventually get to recruit workers who are able to offer more, such as an increased production rate. Each production building also has limited crafting slots that can only be expanded by using Rubies – better save those free Rubies up to buy new slots just so you can queue up more crafting tasks. New crafting recipes will also be unlocked once you have enough Craftsman Formula, usually obtained via exploration, and gold.

Besides farming and crafting, the game also features some idle RPG elements in the form of sending adventurers out on expeditions to battle trolls and into the mines to well, mine for precious minerals and gems. You can add up to 4 adventurers per expedition or mining team. Each expedition and mining trip will require certain power requirements and you’ll want to have a selection of people with enough power so that they will be strong enough to take on whatever challenges that await them. Naturally, expeditions and mining take time to complete and will consume stamina.

Battles are all automated though so there’s no need for you to take manual charge. However, in the mines, sometimes, your team will get ambushed by trolls and they will then need your help. By lending them a hand with a single tap, you can greatly reduce the mining duration. As you progress, the power requirements will increase and the duration of the expeditions will increase as well.

You’ll sometimes recruit new adventurers (as well as workers) by completing expeditions, but most of the time, you should be getting them from the inn. The game uses a gacha-style drawing system to draw out people that you can then add to your team. You can draw new recruits for free at certain intervals but if you can’t wait or if you don’t have the patience of waiting for a “good drop”, you could always spend premium currency, Rubies, and sometimes coins to straightaway buy the citizens you want. Of course, “premium” characters will cost more cash.

As you progress, you’ll need more buy up new plots of land to expand your town. You’ll need to do some land clearing yourself before you can place anything though. Occasionally, you might see a free treasure chest full of valuable loot on the plot you’ve just built! There are also special locations around the place, such as the mysterious circus that you can only unlock at level 9. However, note that these special locations are level-gated, much like new plots of land in this game are.

Another interesting point to note is that you can customize how your mayor look in this game. At the very beginning, you get to create your mayor from scratch but as you play, you’ll get to change the outfits in which your character wears. These cute outfits aren’t just for show either! They usually come with special perks that will help your town’s growth overall.

As a freemium game, Fantasy Town comes with a cash shop where you can buy stuff like a starter pack using real cash or more gold using the game’s premium currency, rubies. There’s also a monthly subscription scheme that you can buy using real money that will grant you additional freebies every day by visiting Tommy, in addition to getting 150 Rubies and 2 exploration coupons straight-up.

Can’t stand ads? Well, there’s also a No Ads version of the game that you can buy, but it’s on a monthly renewal scheme so whenever you stop paying for this privilege, you’ll start seeing ads again.

As with any farming simulation game, Fantasy Town places a lot of emphasis on its social features. This includes guilds where farmers can cooperatively participate in events and reach certain objectives. You are also encouraged to add friends as neighbors and visit them whenever you can to help out and earn some extra gold. You can even exchange gifts and trade with your friends.

There’s also a whole social system in this game where you can earn social points by interacting with your friends. Once you have enough points, you can then spend them to buy new Landscapes for your town.

In a nutshell, Fantasy Town: Farm & Friends is a farm simulation game that’s like no other! By mixing in elements of idle RPGs and to some extent, its gacha-style hero collection, the game is able to offer a new kind of relaxing and social gaming experience that appeals to midcore gamers who enjoy some depth in their games without all the stress that may come with a highly competitive multiplayer game. If this sounds like you, then you might want to try Fantasy Town now! It’s free to download and play! Fantasy Town: Farm & Friends Résumé
